Desert Island Discs: MICHAEL CAINE: Desert Island Discs began in 1942 and continues as a beloved institution in the UK. In each segment, listeners are treated to in-depth discussions with interesting personalities (much like NPR'sFresh Air), which include special music and book selections chosen by the guests. Many Spy Vibe heroes have appeared on the program, offering rare glimpses into their lives and careers. Hosts have been Roy Plomley, Sue Lawley, and the fabulous interviewer Kirsty Young, who has hosted since 2006. An archive of the show is now available on the BBC site. Some episodes are available on iTunes. Today on Spy Vibe we listen in on Kirsty Young's chat with Michael Caine, recorded on December 20th, 2009. Caine talks about his career, secrets to a happy marriage, his recipe for perfect potatoes, and major projects like Alfie. His discs include Coldplay, Frank Sinatra, and John Lennon. 45 minutes.
