Happy Birthday to Linda Thorson. Born in Canada on June 18th, 1947, Thorson graduated from RADA and joined The Avengers as Tara King in 1968. With tough (and kinky!) boots to fill following Diana Rigg's departure, the young actress enjoyed a successful year with Patrick Macnee performing in many of the show's most eccentric stories. Her approach to Tara King brought a sense of sweetness and fun to The Avengers. Thorson went on to Broadway and stage work with the RSC and Old Vic, and she made many appearances on TV shows, including Return of the Saint, The Equalizer, Star Trek TNG, Marblehead Manor, Emily of New Moon, The Hoop Life, and Emmerdale. Like many of her contemporaries, she also made some records- stay tuned for my Vinyl Avengers post. Thorson most recently appeared on Rookie Blue, Sylvia Plath: Girl Detective, and produced the play, The Goodbye Bird, for Colleen Murphy (Terminal Station, The December Man). Many Happy Returns, Linda!
