It's been an another busy week here in the Spy Vibe lair. After posting that great review of The Prisoner audio drama written by Alan Hayes, I was swept away by my school duties of prepping and grading classes. I was also invited once again to have table at a comic convention in northern California, where I sold my Mort Walker Conversation book and talked to kids all day about comics and art. It was so awesome! I also got a chance to catch up with some of my cartoonist pals from the area. Just before the convention, I was looking at vintage photographs of 1960s auto shows to share with Spy Vibers. I didn't have a chance to pick up the thread again until today. Widening my search I came across these cool pics of Diana Rigg from the London Motor Show in October, 1965. Rigg first appeared as Mrs. Peel in "The Town of No Return" (London airdate September 28, 1965/UK airdate October 2, 1965). Hot on the heels of her Avengers debut, Dame Diana posed on the Lotus stage in Earl's Court with the Elan S2. Apparently she drove an S2 (registration HNK99C) during the black and white series and a Blue S3 (registration SJH499D) during the color episodes. I don't need any numbers to tell me that this adds up to VROOM! I believe her lace outfit made a return for other publicity shoots, including a series of well-known images with co-star Patrick Macnee taken on a beach. Search Getty for great visual archives.
