SECRET AGENT SNOOPY

Greetings, Spy Vibers! Here's a sweet little collectible that crossed my radar recently. Toy design company Super 7 has been producing cool stuff for years. Since the early days of seeing their kaiju and Star Wars related projects, they have expanded quite a range of licensed figures based on properties like The Bionic Woman (check out the Fembot!), Masters of the Universe (expired), Star Trek, Transformers, G.I. Joe, TMNT, The Munsters, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and bands like The Misfits and Iron Maiden. The company has also been developing some wonderful sculpts of vintage Peanuts characters, a great turn since my friend Nomi left the Schulz studio to join Super 7 as a designer. Among the 3D creations of classic Halloween costumes and other early Peanuts strips, the new wave also includes this cool Secret Agent Snoopy! From the press release: "Secret Agent Snoopy appears in the Peanuts strip that originally ran September 8, 1967. Having been tasked with a dangerous mission- the disappearance of a valuable blanket, of course- Snoopy forgets his mission and attempts to win the romantic affections of Lucy! This 3.75” scale Secret Agent Snoopy ReAction comes with his magnifying glass and is packaged on a cardback featuring Charles Schulz’s original art from the vintage comic strip. DR. GOLDFOOT BLU-RAY

Deal alert: Fans of zany spy yarns from the 1960s that feature bikini-clad fembots have struck gold! Both Blu-ray editions of the Dr. Goldfoot movies starring Vincent Price have reached an all-time low cost of $15.99 each. Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine was released in 1965 and co-starred Frankie Avalon. This first addition to the series was directed by Norman Taurog, best known for making the 1960s musicals with Elvis Presley. Vincent Price returned to make Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs in 1966, this time under the unexpected helm of Italian horror maestro, Mario Bava. Fabian co-starred, along with comedy duo Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia. Details from Amazon: "Horror legend Mario Bava (Black Sabbath) directs this hilarious sequel to Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine featuring international superstar duo of Ciccio and Franco (Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia, War Italian Style). Although the Goldfoot films didn't quite reach the level of James Coburn's Flint and other spoofs made during the Spy Boom, they are quite fun and charming- often due to Vincent Price, whose fun performances, along with some cool set designs, keeps me coming back to revisit every few years or so. They are definitely silly, but recommended!
