JAMES BOND'S DB5

New release: James Bond's DB5 deluxe book! As my friend, Alan Porter, wrote in his new article about 007's original DB5, "It only took 12 minutes and 47 seconds on screen in Goldfinger for the silver Aston Martin DB5 driven by James Bond to be dubbed the most famous car in the world." The story behind the various production models -and the mysterious theft of the gadget car- is a fascinating one. Hero Collector is publishing a new book this month that sets out to give the Aston the deluxe treatment it deserves. From the press release: "When OO7 first took control of the DB5 in Goldfinger it redefined the action movie forever, setting a standard for everything that came afterwards. Over the decades that have followed, Bond's association with Aston Martin has only grown stronger. Bond and the DB5 are the perfect match: understated, stylish and powerful. This book is the official story of their relationship, from its beginning in 1963, when the DB5 was brand new, to the 25th Bond film No Time To Die, in which the DB5 once again takes center stage. The book draws on EON's and Aston Martin's official archives to present the inside story of the DB5, and includes original production artwork, film storyboards and exclusive photography." More info here. Read Alan's article at Hero Collector here. It's also worth hunting down copies of long out-of-print books by Cinema Retro's Dave Worrall: The Most Famous Car in the World and James Bond Diecasts (about the beloved Corgi toys). Enjoy!
