PETER WYNGARDE EVENT
Event alert: Actor Peter Wyngarde is scheduled to do a Q&A after a screening of South at the BFI on July 3rd in London. South originally aired as Play of the Week on Granada Television in 1959 and was thought lost until recently. The story was controversial at the time due to its homosexual themes, and the press praised the actors for their bravery in taking on such roles at a time when sexuality was regulated by law in British society. The program was rediscovered and screened at a festival in 2013. Now pop-culture fans and historians can see a rare screening next month with star Peter Wyngarde, an actor who looms large here on Spy Vibe with much affection for his roles in The Avengers, The Prisoner, Department S, and Jason King. More info about the upcoming event here. Read more about South here. In other news, my episodes of the Cocktail Nation radio show are now live: Episode #1 (Danger Man) and Episode #2 (The 10th Victim), Epsiode #3 (On Her Majesty's Secret Service) Episode #4 (Roger Moore/The Saint).
