UFO CD SET

New release: 4-CD UFO set coming in April! Spy Vibers know there's really nothing more innovative than the world of Gerry Anderson, or more groovy than Anderson's first live-action series, UFO. How can you beat elements like silver mini skirts, Nehru jackets, purple wigs, spaceships, futuristic cars, sci-spy action, and the ultra cool organ music of Barry Gray. UFO music has seen limited availability in the past, including a long out-of-print Fanderson set and a recent CD/vinyl release of various bits. Well, the folks at Fanderson must have picked up on our collective yearning because they just announced an upcoming 4-CD set collecting Gray's music, packed into a nice box with an extensive booklet. If you haven't joined Fanderson (one must be a member in order to shop their products), now is great time to do it. I imagine the UFO set will probably go out of print again. While you are there, also check out their many series CD box sets (every one of them is fantastic and beautifully designed), plus episode booklets for Anderson TV shows, spoken-word CDs, and much more. From the press release: Composed and conducted by Barry Gray. Remastered and substantially expanded from the club’s long out-of-print 2003 (155 minutes) and 2010 (160 minutes) releases, this amazing 4-CD box set of soundtrack music from UFO contains the most comprehensive set of recordings from the series ever produced. Includes suites from every episode of UFO: Identified, Exposed, Survival, A Question Of Priorities, Conflict, Ordeal, The Square Triangle, Confetti Check A-OK, ESP, Close Up, Court Martial, Kill Straker!, Sub-Smash, The Dalotek Affair, Flight Path, Computer Affair, The Responsibility Seat, The Cat With Ten lives, The Sound Of Silence, Destruction, The Man Who Came Back, The Psychobombs, Reflections In The Water, Mindbender, Timelash and The Long Sleep. The album features music as presented in the episodes and, seperately, music scored for individual episodes but was ultimately unused. It also contains numerous versions of the opening and closing titles, commercial break stings, library music tracks included in the 1980 compilation movie Invasion: UFO, as well as details of commercially-available recordings that couldn’t be included in this album. The boxset features a full-colour 40-page booklet packed with details of each track (cross-referencing music to appearances in other Anderson productions) and musicians. The entire set is packaged in a glossy slipcase. Approximate running time: 308 minutes. Stereo and mono." More info at Fanderson. Spy Vibers, don't miss my new episode of Cocktail Nation radio; this month I explore that fab 1960s Japanese ninja/spy series, Phantom Agents. And check out my UFO episode here. Enjoy!
