VILLAGE MAN

Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis was born on this day in 1883. Best known among Spy Vibers as the designer of Portmeirion -the Village where The Prisoner was filmed- Clough Williams-Ellis brought his unique vision to create a whimsical and often surreal environment. Things are not always what they seem in the Village- a trait used to help define the tone of Patrick McGoohan's masterpiece series. The site was also used for other classics such as Danger Man and Doctor Who, but the best is to wake up in the Village itself and wander the grounds. I've been so fortunate to stay in Portmeirion a number of times and it remains one of my favorite places in the world. Highly recommended.
