JANE BIRKIN R.I.P.

English-French star Jane Birkin passed away today at the age of 76. Birkin's career spanned fifty years as an actress and recording artist and she is most well-known among Spy Vibers for her roles in iconic films such as Antonioni's Blow-Up and Joe Massot's Wonderwall, as well as for her relationships with Serge Gainsbourg and James Bond composer, John Barry. Perhaps her most famous album was Je t'aime... moi non plus, created with partner Gainsbourg in 1969; the very sexual-revolution-era title track was complete with breathy eroticism and orgasmic moans (heavily banned in many countries). One of my favorite recordings she made was a 2004 collaboration with Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music), where the duo covered his song, "In Every Dream Home a Heartache," a chilling ode to empty materialism (and to an inflatable doll!).
