DIABOLIK RIDE
With the announcement that Mario Bava's Danger Diabolik (1968) is finally coming to Blu-ray in the States via Shout Factory in May (see my post), I think we just need to devote the rest of the week to Diabolik, don't you? A master thief, deadly with daggers, and dark vigilante, Diabolik is one of the great anti-heroes of the 20th Century. His adventures on the comic page (in fumetti neri) and on-screen are legendary and speak of anti-establishment, ruthlessness, and murder -just the kind of vibe theme park designers look for when designing new amusement rides! Thanks to our friends on Twitter, we now know about Diabolik Invertigo, a terrifying roller coaster at Movieland the Hollywood Park in Lazise, Italy. As advertised: "Live all the adrenaline of a chase with Diabolik and Eva in a new mission at Movieland! A unique roller coaster in Italy, that goes both forward and backward." According to reviews, Diabolik Invertigo a forward and backward, hanging roller coaster that leaves people shaking for hours. Maybe Danger Diabolik is the better title!
