NEW AVENGERS 4K

New release: Spy Vibers will be thrilled to learn The New Avengers is coming to 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD this November from Studio Canal! I must admit that I didn't expect to see The New Avengers pop up like this -and region-free! I guess I can finally retire my old A&E DVDs. The link above will take you to Amazon UK, but I anticipate stateside retailers such as Orbit and Diabolik will eventually list these new sets, as well. Watch the Blu-ray site for info and discussions. From the press release: The New Avengers joins John Steed as he takes a jaunty step forward into a new decade, this time with two sidekicks – the first time a male and female companion join him – Gambit (Gareth Hunt) and Purdey (Joanna Lumley). The mighty trio join forces to fight evil and put a stop to any attempts at world domination. With high kicks and bowler hats aplenty – Series1 and Series 2 of The New Avengers heralded a new direction for the crime fighting series. *UPDATE: Imprint Australia have confirmed their own New Avengers release!

MOORE ISLAND DISCS

One of my favorite radio programs is Desert Island Discs, which for many decades has featured fascinating guests who are interviewed about their lives, careers, and about their favorite music. In this episode from 1981 Sir Roger Moore takes us through projects like Ivanhoe, The Saint, and James Bond with his trademark charm and humor. Which pieces of music did he choose as his desert island discs and why? Check it out:
