Greetings, Spy Vibers! The school year is in full swing and I've been working hard with my drawing and photography students on various projects. It's been intensely smoky (and hot) lately in the area, but we're hanging in there and making good progress. The Spy Vibe book is also coming along day by day. The deeper I dove into Elio Petri's The 10th Victim (1965), the more I found the film to be the cornerstone example of what was happening in the art world in the early-to-mid 1960s. Research has included tracking down the original press photos and exhibition catalogs from galleries that informed the visual themes. I look forward to sharing it all with you as soon as posible! My new episode on the Cocktail Nation radio show from Australia is now up! This month I go deeper into the vaults of the 1966 gritty crime series, Vendetta, produced by the BBC. The show ran for 36 episodes (most were wiped) and the music was really cool! Vendetta was created by two writers who had worked on various ITC spy shows, as well as Barbarella and Danger Diabolik. In this radio segment, I play incidental pieces written for the series by John Baker, a member of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (he even made sounds for The Beatles movie, Help!).
